6th Annual MTSU Veteran Retreat

Operation Song® partnered with Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) to hold its 6th annual MTSU Veteran Retreat with attending veterans and student songwriters. The Retreat was held on the Murfreesboro, TN’s university campus, with the performance taking place in the new Chris Young Café.

We brought in six of Nashville’s best songwriters to help the veterans turn their stories into songs they were proud of at the end of the day. We are incredibly grateful to add to our growing list of songs with ”Learning How To Fly,” written by Herbert Hill with songwriters Keesy Timmer and Jamie Floyd; “A Few Good Dogs,” written by John Duncan with songwriter Jimmy Thow; “Triggers,” written by Johnathan Schlecher with songwriter Skip Black; “Heavy Russian Rain,” written by Ryan Wolfe with songwriter Steve Williams; and “I’m A Tank,” written by Alex Piacenti with songwriter Cameron Newby.

Our partnership with MTSU came about through the Daniels Center, and The Journey Home Project. We are grateful for their continued support and look forward to next years event.
