Operation Song Pairs Veterans & Songwriters to Turn Stories of Service into Song

(NASHVILLE, TN – Sept. 6, 2023) Operation Song®, a non-profit that pairs Nashville songwriters with veterans to tell their stories through song, is proud to announce their 2nd annual Green Bay, Wisconsin benefit – A Night With Operation Song® – at Epic Event Center on Friday, October 6, 2023. Presented by 94.7 | 104.7 The Razor and emcee’d by Cutter, the evening will feature acoustic performances by Grammy-winning songwriter, solo artist and voice of Creed, Scott Stapp, Nashville Hall of Fame Songwriter Bob DiPiero (15 #1 hits by George Strait, Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire, etc), #1 hit Songwriter Rob Crosby, Nashville Songwriter Matt McKinney, and Country artist and songwriter AJ Kross. At the benefit, songwriters will share their own hits, the stories behind them, as well as songs written earlier that day with local veterans during a private writing retreat. Event attendees will also experience a live auction and the entire evening’s proceeds will benefit Operation Song® programming for veterans and their families.

OPERATION SONG® is a national nonprofit, based in Nashville TN, that pairs professional songwriters and veterans (and military family members) to turn their stories of service, camaraderie, and bravery into songs. The cathartic writing process helps Veterans unlock and express deeply personal sentiments. By turning memories into lasting mementos, veterans gain a way to “talk” to friends and family about their feelings. Participating veterans write with songwriters, see their stories performed in public, and receive a recorded copy of their songs, free of charge. Operation Song® works with North Country Troopers Assisting Troops, the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Warriors Heart and others who serve veterans across the country. One of the most iconic voices in rock, SCOTT STAPP first emerged as the high-energy, post-grunge frontman of Creed, which sold over 50 million albums, broke airplay records, sold out arenas, earned countless Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards, and won a Grammy for Best Rock Song. As a solo artist, Stapp has released the Platinum-certified The Great Divide (2005), Proof of Life (2013) which featured his first solo #1, and 2019’s The Space Between The Shadows. Recently, Stapp released “Higher Power,” the first single from his to-be-announced upcoming album and will reunite with Creed in April 2024 for the first time in a decade.
BOB DIPIERO was inducted into the Nashville Walk of Fame and Songwriter Hall of Fame in 2007. ROB CROSBY’s songs have been recorded by the likes of Lee Brice, Lady A, Brooks and Dunn, Rodney Atkins, The Oak Ridge Boys, Darryl Worley, as well as #1 hit “Concrete Angel” recorded by Martina McBride.
MATT MCKINNEY is a Nashville based songwriter signed with Sony Music ATV. In 2019 after graduating from the University of Georgia, McKinney moved to Nashville to pursue a career in songwriting. McKinney has landed cuts with artists including Jordan Davis, Elle King, Kidd G, Kolby Cooper, Ella Langley, and Trey Lewis.
AJ KROSS is an up and coming country music artist originally from Oregon. AJ has spent the last few years writing with some of country music’s biggest songwriters for his upcoming debut album. AJ has pulled influence by Dierks Bentley, Johnny Cash, Blake Shelton, Colin Raye, and even further back to rock groups, Anberlin, Emery and many others in the experimental genre.
