Operation Song is a non-profit group that pairs professional songwriters with Veterans and their families to help them tell their stories through song. To date, Operation Song has produced more than 600 songs with Veterans of WWII to those currently serving. Many of those have come from the group’s work with the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System’s (TVHS) Music Therapy program at the Alvin C. York campus in Murfreesboro.
WGNS’ Scott Walker has the full story here (3 MIN and 56 SEC):
Veterans who want to participate in Operation Song should simply ask their TVHS primary care provider, mental health specialist or social worker for a consult. Find out more by emailing TVHPublicAffairs@va.gov.
I heard about you today while listening to WSM Radio. What a wonderful organization. God Bless you all for the work you are doing with our Veterans. I am telling everyone I know about your organization.
Thank you for letting me hear the others. PTSD is a thousand things from a thousand directions causing a thousand reactions in thousandths of a second. William and I wrote a song awhile back about a beast in a hole that came back home with us. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tLpkli_Zkc8
